Research and Innovation for Sustainability Center

Magnolia Quality Development Corporation Co., Ltd. (MQDC) is prepared to launch Thailand’s first holistic Research and Innovation for Sustainability Center on a property of 1,000 sq.m. with an initial investment valued at 200 million baht. Recently, an old Thai-Chinese family Wanglee have transformed their old family estate into creative retail space known as Lhong 1919, a new tourist attraction built in celebration of history.

As physical and labor costs waned, intellect, skills, culture, and knowledge rose in prominence as the main driving forces of the sector of the global economy known as Creative Economy. According to a survey conducted by the European Commission, creative industries in the European Union grew by 12% in 2004, creating some 4.7 million jobs. Meanwhile, in the United States, copyright-based industries –a type of creative industry– have generated economic value of USD 1,388 billion, the equivalent of 11.12% of the total national GDP. An estimated 40 million people are employed in this sector, accounting for around 30% of the total workforce in the country.

Montien Atelier : Art space brings late artist back to life

The two-story house and studio of late artist Montien Boonma in Ngarmwongwarn neighborhood has been refurbished and recently opened to the public as 408 Art Space. Downstairs is a café called Early Bird Gets Coffee, while the second floor, called Montient Atelier (atelier is French for studio), is dedicated to the display of the artist’s works throughout his life.
